The upgrade of the Helensville Wastewater Treatment Plant faced the challenge of extending the existing embankment over soft, estuarine deposits.
The solution was a reinforced soil slope, designed by KGA, using the computer based programme ReSSA. CPT testing was undertaken to determine the nature of the underlying material. To mitigate the effects of settlement of the soft deposits from the placement of fill, calculations of potential settlement were undertaken and a pre-loading programme was implemented.
