Port Vila, Vanuatu >>
It was proposed to construct a six level commercial development in central Port Vila, Vanuatu, an area of known seismic hazards. KGA undertook an initial desk study, using information obtained from local government sources, followed by a ground investigation involving machine boreholes and test pits. Samples were taken and brought back to New Zealand for laboratory testing.
KGA identified variable geological conditions across the site, including sands, coral beds and limestone. Foundation recommendations and geotechnical design parameters were provided for use in design.
