The Greenwich Gardens retirement complex comprises single level villas and six storey apartment buildings with significant retaining structures.
KGA undertook a desk study on previous information for the site, followed by a subsurface investigation involving machine boreholes, hand auger boreholes and laboratory testing.
Full soil-structure interaction analyses were undertaken using finite element modelling software and retaining wall analysis programmes for basement excavation and retaining wall design. Construction observations were carried out during site formation and foundation construction.
