Robert Kamuhangire
Geologist Engineering
Robert is a principal geotechnical engineer based in the Christchurch office, having joined the team in August 2018. He has over 20 years’ experience as a geotechnical engineer gained in the United Kingdom and in New Zealand since 2012.
Prior to joining KGA, he worked with large international consultancy firms in multi-disciplinary teams delivering projects of varying complexity and in various sectors ranging from road/rail infrastructure, commercial/residential buildings, land subdivisions, waste/energy, wastewater treatment works, and flood defences.
At KGA, his focus is collaborating with external clients/partners from developers, homeowners, structural and civil engineers, to insurance companies to deliver resilient cost-effective solutions across various industries using his experience gained over the years. Robert is never afraid to ask the hard questions and likes to understand the holistic picture beyond geotechnical engineering.
When he’s not at work, he is breaking his body during holidays on walks forgetting that strength is built up over time! He otherwise spends the weekends as a chauffeur for the kids and/or continuously listening to Cocomelon. And twice a year, he runs away from everyone to focus on editorial of the Geomechanics News – the New Zealand Geotechnical Society (NZGS) technical journal.
