Landslide Assessments & Remediation Design
New Zealand’s diverse and dynamic landscapes are both beautiful and challenging. With its unique geological features and varying climatic conditions, the risk of landslides is a significant concern for many communities and infrastructure projects. At KGA, we specialize in providing comprehensive landslide assessment and remediation design services to ensure the safety and stability of your property and projects.

Slope Stability design
We conduct comprehensive slope stability assessments, integrating historical aerial imagery analysis with high-resolution drone surveys to identify long-term ground movement patterns, surface cracks, and drainage concerns. Site-specific investigations, including geotechnical drilling, shear strength testing, and groundwater monitoring, help quantify material properties and pore pressure risks.
Using advanced analysis techniques such as limit equilibrium (Spencer method) and numerical modelling (finite element and shear strength reduction), we evaluate factors of safety under varying conditions, including rainfall and seismic activity. For flow slides or debris flows, we assess sediment mobility and velocity using empirical models calibrated to New Zealand’s geological settings.
Our mitigation strategies prioritise practical, cost-effective solutions, including engineered retaining structures, slope regrading, drainage systems, and bioengineering (e.g., vegetation reinforcement). By linking probabilistic hazard forecasting with cost-benefit analysis, we ensure resilient, compliant outcomes that align with NZCPS guidelines and regional council requirements, supporting infrastructure, housing, and natural landscapes.
